About

Courtney Geter, LMFTS, CSTS is a licensed marriage and family therapist and AASECT certified sex therapist. She received her degree in Child and Family Development from The University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) and then obtained her Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Drexel University in Philadelphia. Following her formal education, she then trained and received her sex therapy certification through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists.

Courtney has taught at the academic level for the Adler University Department of Couple and Family Therapy for the sex therapy certificate program. Courtney currently teaches in-house workshops for providers and interns of Atlanta Therapeutic Collective and teaches workshops in the community for clients and therapists.

​

In 2019, after several years as a sole proprietor in private practice, Courtney founded her group practice, Atlanta Therapeutic Collective located in Decatur, Ga. During this time, Courtney expanded her practice to include associate therapists and interns providing sex and relationship under her training and supervision. In 2019, Courtney also founded and created Papaya Parties, which is adult sex ed events and workshops. Finally, Courtney is also the creator and producer of the Let's Talk Sex podcast providing fun yet informative information on sexuality.

Courtney is a Clinical Fellow with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, a supporter of the Georgia Association of Marriage and Family Therapy,  a current member of the American Association for Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists, and a lifetime member and past board member with the LGBTQ Therapist Resource. Courtney is a committee member of the AASECT Ethics Advisory Committee. She formerly served as a committee member for the AASECT Awards Committee, is a former Chair for the Metro Chapter of Georgia Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. She also remains active with the Drexel University Alumni Department and acts as a liaison for the Atlanta Area Drexel Alumni.

  • The Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia conference teaching on sex therapy basics

 

  • 50 Cents Period and The Women's Circle to help educate refugee women on their sexual health and rights.

  • Mercer University's Clinical Rehabilitation students discussing sexual health and disabilities.

​

  • The South Metro Chapter of the Georgia Association of Marriage and Family Therapists educating other therapists on creating a safe therapeutic environment for clients.

​

  • Atlanta Polyamory with support groups and workshops for members to improve their relationship experiences

​

  • The Metro Atlanta Chapter of GAMFT to present on sex therapy and pelvic health.

​

  • The Middle Georgia Chapter of GAMFT to discuss the topic of sex therapy and provide tools for rural clinicians to better assist clients.

​

  • The Wise Pause Tour to educate on a healthy sex life during menopause.
